ColumbiaGrid's 2011 System Assessment Published

The final ColumbiaGrid 2011 System Assessment report has been posted. The report analyzes the reliability of the transmission system over the next ten years and identifies areas where there may be reliability issues. Study Teams are formed to address reliability issues when they affect more than one ColumbiaGrid planning participant. As a result of this year’s assessment, no new study teams are proposed. All issues identified in this year’s assessment fit under existing study team efforts. Seven sensitivity studies have been identified and will be reported in the next Biennial Transmission Expansion Plan.

"In ColumbiaGrid, we now have the ability to resolve the three fundamental transmission questions: What transmission facilities should be built? Who should build them? Who should pay for them? With ColumbiaGrid's independent staff and process to resolve disputes, we can answer these questions effectively and in a timely fashion to facilitate our region's new resource development needs."
